Our Background
TV33 was issued a construction permit (cp) by the FCC in 1988 and began broadcasting on April 12, 1989 from studio facilities located on Lafayette Square in LaGrange. The original call letters were W33AT. In February 2000, TV33 received a CLASS A designation from the FCC and changed its call letters to WCAG-LP(WCAG-CA). In 2005, TV33 moved its studio to West Georgia Technical College. The TV33 transmitter and tower are located on Campbell Street near downtown LaGrange and is one of the highest points in Troup County. Since 1989 WCAG-TV33 has broadcasted 24/7 without interruption and has televised over 1,000 local events and over 5,000 live nightly newscasts. TV33 continues to pulsate within the heart of the Deep South, in West Georgia and East Alabama.
